I started falling into the pit that is luxury handbags back in December. One thing I noticed right away was the the distinction between Classic and Trendy bags. Another very important thing of this world, when it comes down to classics, Chanel is the way to go. The world of dupes continues to evolve and create better alternatives for classic bags. So in this post we will dwell into the world of dupes by looking at a Chanel Boy Dupe I found at TJ Maxx and other alternatives you can get TODAY!
A lot of debate still stands on whether or not the Boy bag is/will be a classic. Many believe it will. Others think the trend will fade. I personally love the look of this bag. In today’s time, I think this can very well be a classic bag that will transcend to the next generation. For this reason I think the boy would be a good investment bag. It is definitely on my radar for the future. For now, as a medical student, with huge debt, I have to get my fix some other way. One way to do this is through dupes.
Now I had never seen a good, legit dupe for any Chanel bag. That was until I saw this one. On Sunday, me and the Hubs decided to stroll into TJ Maxx. Like always, I decided to check out the handbag section. Well, I was definitely not expecting to find a Chanel Boy dupe priced at $18. I don’t need to even tell you how quickly I decided I needed it. This was when I started debating colors. Ultimately, I was between the charcoal grey and a burnt red/orange. Since I already own a grey MK bag, I went with the burnt orange one.
I am so excited to own this! Especially because ever since I published my Designer Handbag Wishlist I have been looking at information, advice, guides, etc to making savvy luxury purchases. Aside from having a wishlist, researching prices, making a choice, and starting a saving goal, I have read that getting a cheap dupe is a good way to know if you will actually use a particular style of bag. I think this is a very ingenious way to make sure you are making a good choice for a bag. You want to be sure you will give the appropriate love to what might as well be an investment short of a car down payment. So for this reason, having this bag will help me see if I really will consider making such a huge splurge sometime in the future (far far away future).
Now let’s get back to the bag! The bag is a good medium sized bag in a rough suede material. It features the BCBG logo in the middle and two clasps to close the front flap. The interior has several pockets and a gold colored thick chain. The strap is adjustable. It has only two pins which gives you different length alternatives. The whole strap/chain can move freely through the hoops for easy handling. Also, the chain lengths also allow you to wear this as a long/short shoulder bag, or as a crossbody.
In terms of space, I think this bag has a great size. It allows me to carry everything I might need when going out. I find that since it is more of a dressier type of bag, aka not as casual, then you wont be carrying that much stuff either. Also in case you wanted to carry more, you definitely could. So far, I have nothing bad to say about this bag!
This is apparently an older bag. It was in clearance at my local TJ Maxx. Rebecca Minkoff has another dupe, also linked below, which is the Love Crossbody Bag. It is not always available but if you see it, then definitely take it into consideration. My particular bag is sadly not available anymore. That doesn’t mean you can’t get one for yourself. I have created a widget below which features several other dupes for the infamous Chanel Boy, as well as pre-owned versions or real Chanel Boy bags.
