When I started falling into the pit that is luxury handbags back in December one thing I noticed right away was the the distinction between Classic and Trendy bags. Another very important thing of this world, is that one thing is for certain, when it comes down to classics, Chanel is the way to go. There are several classic Chanel bags, but I will leave that discussion for a later time, for this post I want to focus on the Le Boy Bag (price: $5,200 USD).
A lot of debate still stands on whether or not the Boy bag is/will be a classic or not. Many believe so, other think the trend will fade. I love the look of this bag and I think, in today’s time, this can very well be a classic bag that will transcend to the next generation. For this reason I think the boy is a good investment bag, and I definitely have it on my radar for the future. For now, as a broke medical student, I have to get my fix somehow, and one way is through dupes.
Now I had never seen a good, legit dupe for any Chanel bag, until I saw this one. On Sunday, me and the Hubs decided to stroll into TJ Maxx and I decided to check out the handbag section, well I was not expecting to find a Chanel Le Boy lookalike priced at $18. I don’t need to even tell you how quickly I decided I needed it and started debating colors. I was between the charcoal grey and a burnt red/orange, since I already have a grey MK bag, I went with the burnt orange one.
I am so excited to own this, especially because ever since I published my Designer Handbag Wishlist I have been looking at information, advice, guides, etc to making savvy luxury purchases. Aside from having a wishlist, researching prices, making a choice, and start a saving goal, I have read and heard that getting a cheap dupe is a good way to know if you will actually use that particular style of bag. I think this is a very ingenious way to make sure you are making a good choice for a bag you will give the appropriate love to. So for this reason, having this bag will help me see if I really will consider making such a huge splurge sometime in the future (far far away future).
Now let’s get back to the bag! The bag is a good medium sized bag in a rough suede material. It features the BCBG logo in the middle and two clasps to close the front flap. The interior features several pockets and it has a gold colored thick chain. The strap is adjustable, only two pins which gives you different length alternatives. The whole strap/chain can move freely through the hoops for easy handling. The chain lengths also allow you to wear this as a long/short shoulder bag, or as a crossbody.
In terms of space, I think this bag has a great size, it allows me to carry everything I might need when going out. I find that since it is more of a dressier type of bag, aka not as casual, then you wont be carrying that much stuff either, but if you wanted to, you could. So far, I have nothing bad to say about this bag except I can’t wait to show it off!
This is apparently an older bag and it was in clearance at my local TJ Maxx, but you have several options: go to your local Marshalls o TJ Mxx, Amazon, or Poshmark. I have linked them all so you can decide where you want to purchase from. I have also listed other similar bags.
Another great dupe for this bag, but it has a higher price tag, is the Rebecca Minkoff Love Crossbody Bag.
Do you have any other good dupes for the famous Boy?
