Casey Holmes is my favorite beauty vlogger and was the very first one I started watching when this whole self discovery journey started. To this day, she is still my favorite and I hope to meet her one day, maybe even have a doggie play date. It is no doubt that when she announced she was working on a collab with Smashbox early in 2016 I was super excited to get my hand on it. Almost a year later, we finally have her collab live and it is a set of highlighting palettes perfect for any skin tone.
There retail for $35 per palette and are two options: Pearl and Gold which feature 3 highlighters each, turn it on, crank it up, and blow a fuse. The first two colors in each palette feature very creamy highlighters that create a very natural glow from within that will do the job without taking it to the next level. Either of these can be used for everyday or more dramatic looks. Blow a fuse is more glittery and less creamy than the others and it can be used to blow your look to the max in terms of highlight. When she explained the palettes she said it could be used as a topper or to take your look up a notch and I agree 100%. Now all 3 colors have fall out, not too much but what I consider a normal amount in terms of the palette itself. I do not mind it at all and it makes no difference with respect to application.
In terms of how these wear I think she did a great job on helping design a formula that will suit people with texture on their skin and who have a hard time keeping their pores minimal when wearing highlight. Struggling with sensitive skin, rosacea, and break outs, I think she wanted to cater to a majority of girls and women who are not always kept in mind in the makeup industry. I also agree that these wear amazing without emphasizing texture or pores in the skin while providing highlight and accentuating certain features.
Like I mentioned before, she managed to create to very beautiful and unique palettes that cater to a wide variety of skin tones. Being on the fairest end of the spectrum I went for the Pearl palette which features more cream and pink colored highlights that wear the best for my pale skin. The Gold palette has more, obviously, gold toned highlights that wear best on medium and darker skin tones. Now even though I do not own the Gold palette I have seen multiple reviews and pictures of it being worn and I believe if you like gold tones and/or have warm undertones you could rock the Gold palette even if you are as pale as me.
I have been on the hunt for highlight for a while now and I do not regret waiting or getting this palette. I think I will get a lot of wear from this and it will be difficult to replace or compare to. I have to admit that I do like a strong highlight when I wear even for day looks, I guess I’m a diva like that 😊.
I purchased mine through the Smashbox website during a pre-launch even they had for Smashcash members level 2 and 3. At the moment they are both BACK IN STOCK in the Smashbox website. At the moment only Smashbox is available but tomorrow, Friday March 3rd, they will launch on Sephora stores and online and March 9th at Sephora counters in JcPenny. Macys in store and online should also launch on March 9th and Ulta later in March. All of this is explained in Casey’s Video and she talks about availability all around the world with estimated dates.

Did you/will you get either of these? What is your favorite highlight?

Omg you blogged about this recently, I can’t believe I missed it.
But the palette looks super gorgeous and it looks stunning on you!!
I think it’s great that she considered the vast majority of skin types out there and made sure it would suit a wide range of women with different skin types. I love people/makeup brands that take little things like that into consideration. I’ve never heard from Casey Holmes until I started hearing about this palette but I’ll have to check her out on YouTube 🙂
