It’s almost mid-February already, can you believe it? It seems like 2018 is already flying by without waiting for anyone. This week let’s start off with a little Valentine’s post. While Valentine’s day is just another holiday to some, for others, it’s an excuse for some extra time with our loved one. Hence, it’s a valid excuse to get dressed up and go for a nice night out with bae. A lot of look books out there feature red everywhere. Being the complete opposite of trendy, I want to give you different alternatives for a night out. Instead I would rather keep simple, classic elements with pops of color to make a statement. Whether you want to shop for something new or re-style things in your closet, I hope this guide helps you plan the perfect outfit.
The Tuxedo Dress
While shopping after Christmas sales I took the plunge and got this gorgeous black and white ecru dress from WHBM. If I haven’t said it already, I LOVE WHBM dresses. I truly believe most of them are 100% worth the splurge. Personally I have owned 2 of them for over 4 years and despite time they are still in great condition. This Tuxedo dress is incredibly elegant yet subtle enough to be appropriate for a number of events. I love pairing this dress with my new Blue by Betsey Johnson heels and black heart accessories for a classic chic look with a little love. An evening clutch, WOC, or any small night bag will complete this look perfectly. To really make this look pop and incorporate more classic Valentine’s elements, try an attenuated eye makeup with a bold red lip.
The Comfy Chic
If you are a more laid back gal, you may prefer to wear jeans and a nice blouse. As such, I also wanted to incorporate items that have been in my closet for a while. I chose this beautiful and feminine blush blouse from WHBM that I got in the spring with my brand new obsession Kut from the Kloth Mia skinny black jeans. Keeping in the classic chic look theme, we can up this outfit by adding simple Michelle black leather pumps from Naturalizer. Since this is a pretty plain look, accessories and makeup will also contribute to the final look. For an outing during the day, natural makeup with a dark nude lip and bold lashes are sure to make a statement. During the night a deeper natural eye with dramatic lashes and a bold lip will change your game in an instant. And just like that, you are ready for a Valentine’s Day Date!
The Warm Romantic
Wanting to be as inclusive as possible I want to feature a look I shared on my IG back in December. This look is very feminine, trendy, and romantic. It is especially great for places where the weather is still cold. This outfit features a sweater top from Loft with gorgeous tie bell cuff. It’s available in various colors: cream, grey, and red. My favorite was clearly the cream but I still lust after the grey one. I paired it with an old pair of AEO jeans, and my not-so-new Steve Madden Dicey Boots. To finish off this look my trusty Isadore Bag from MK that traveled to all my interviews. As for makeup I have worn this outfit with natural makeup. Although, you can definitely step it up a notch and go for a more dramatic look.
These are just some of the looks I have put together. I hope these will help you use things you already have in your closet to put together a nice outfit to celebrate with your significant other or your besties. On the widgets I have listed many similar options in a wide range of prices. There something for everyone.
