𝐿𝑖𝑓𝑒 𝑝𝑙𝑎𝑛𝑛𝑖𝑛𝑔

𝐿𝑖𝑓𝑒 𝑝𝑙𝑎𝑛𝑛𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑠𝑒𝑡𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑔𝑜𝑎𝑙𝑠⁣

It’s a new year and for the past few weeks everyone has been talking about new year goals, life goals/planning and the works. For years I have tried, AND FAILED to do resolutions/goals and achieve them. Last year I tried something different.⁣
⁣
In 2020 I began thinking of these things as goals instead of “resolutions”. I also started to write them down, create a vision board, and actively work on achieving those goals. And guess what? IT WORKED! ⁣
⁣
So for 2021 I decided to do the same but take it a step further. I began by writing down my goals, create a vision board, and then bought an unnumbered planner where I can plan and organize every aspect of my life. This way of looking at things helps me narrow down and focus on specific goals little by little so that by the end I achieve more. ⁣
⁣
Back in 2018 when I went to @girlmedmedia conference we got an amazing talk by @strive01 on how to set goals and how to achieve them. She explained how setting definitive steps to achieve those goals is essential to achieve them. And even though it took me a bit to put in practice, last year I did it and my life is changed! ⁣
⁣
So how to set goals so you can achieve them?⁣
⁣
🖊 Write out your longer term goals as specifically as you can and be realistic with what you can achieve ⁣
⁣
🖋 Figure out exactly what steps or things you need to take/do on order to get there and wrote them down⁣
⁣
🖊 Set deadlines with specific dates for when you want to complete each step of the process ⁣
⁣
🖋 Create a mood/vision board and keep it someplace you can see it constantly as a reminder or way to keep yourself accountable ⁣
⁣
OPTIONAL Step:⁣
✨ Manifest your goals into the universe as frequently as you can. You do this by visualizing your goal and believing you have already achieved it. You can write it down as often as you can in present tense and truly believe you already have gotten it done! ⁣

This is the system I have used most recently to work on my goals and it has certainly been working magically for me. What things do you do to plan and work towards your goals?

One of the things I think about the most is how much influence social media has on us and our well-being. It has become so engrained into our daily lives that we forget that it is a excerpt of each of our lives and not an accurate representation.⁣
⁣⁣
Even those with the most perfect feeds have days where they struggle and feel like stepping away. I am definitely one to detach from social media when I am struggling. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Over the past few years I have some rough moments and some dark times where I 𝑛𝑒𝑒𝑑𝑒𝑑 to step away and work on myself. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Today I am giving you some tips on how to cope with social media when you are struggling! ⁣⁣
⁣
✨ 𝑟𝑒𝑐𝑜𝑔𝑛𝑖𝑧𝑒 that x or y platform are triggering bad feelings within you so that you can step away⁣⁣
⁣
✨𝑏𝑒 𝑘𝑖𝑛𝑑 𝑡𝑜 𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑟𝑠𝑒𝑙𝑓 and allow yourself to take what you need whether it is time or space, blocking or muting certain people from your feeds, etc. Take what you need⁣⁣
⁣
✨𝑓𝑖𝑛𝑑 𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑡𝑟𝑖𝑏𝑒 I feel like this one is often overlooked but finding a group of people, big or small, that you can talk to about your struggles and who can support you is so important. So is finding people or accounts that inspire you to get better.⁣
⁣
✨𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑜𝑤 𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑟𝑠𝑒𝑙𝑓 𝑡𝑜 ℎ𝑒𝑎𝑙 give yourself the opportunity to heal so that you can retake your life with strength and motivation to move forward ⁣⁣

✨𝑝𝑟𝑖𝑜𝑟𝑖𝑡𝑖𝑒𝑠 like my friend @teaandreverie said in a recent post, our time is precious and we need to prioritize who or what gets access to that time. We need to be selective and identify what gets put on our day to day plans ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
In the past 2.5 years in residency I have been through it all. I have been happy and excited about all the new things as well as the celebration of reaching a 𝐻𝑈𝐺𝐸 milestone. But I have also struggled with burnout, depression, loosing myself, and almost ruining everything I value the most. Continued in the comments!

I struggled with whether or nor to share this but this picture somehow inspired me to want to talk about it. I just wanted to share in order to #breakthestigma and help others in the same situation.

This week I was part of the beginning of a new chapter for the entire world. 🌎 ⁣
⁣
I received the first dose of the COVID vaccine. ⁣
⁣
Can’t deny that I was afraid of the side effects since I knew that data supports more chances of them in people under 55, and that those that do get them in that age group also get them worse that in the older age group. This worried me. Also there is no published evidence of how long the antibodies are present with the Pfizer vaccine. ⁣
⁣
For these reasons I was trying to get Moderna’s vaccine. In the end I decided to face my fears and get the Pfizer vaccine. Why? ⁣
⁣
Because the benefits from the vaccine are far greater than trying to wait and risk exposure. Because I’d rather feel crappy for a few days than get COVID. Because my patients, my friends, and my family deserve it. And most of all because SCIENCE 🧪 defends it! ⁣
⁣
For those celebrating the “end” of the pandemic but unwilling to get the vaccine, YOU are part of the problem that will keep COVID alive and make things worse. In order for the vaccine to work and create herd immunity 70% of the world population needs to get BOTH doses of the vaccine. So be part of the solution! ⁣
⁣
What is an mRNA vaccine? mRNA is a piece of genetic code that ONLY serves to send 1 message. It cannot invade the nucleus of a cell and become part of your DNA. It can only send the message for that 1 spike protein on the virus to give YOUR immune system a specific weapon against anything that carries that specific protein. ⁣
⁣
Does it cause infertility? There is NO evidence to support this. Trial participants were able to still get pregnant. Patient who had COVID and had antibodies to this protein naturally have been able to get pregnant. ⁣
⁣
Can I get it if I am pregnant, breastfeeding, or thinking of becoming pregnant? This is a decision you need to make yourself after discussing with your provider. Most professional societies including ACOG, SMFM, ASMR and others have encouraged shared decision making since the evidence supports women who are pregnant are at risk for more severe COVID than non pregnant individuals.
