A few days into my vacation and I have finished mo

A few days into my vacation and I have finished most of what I envisioned doing throughout the whole week! ⁣
⁣
Really got bit by the spring clean bug and decided to declutter, re-organize, and PURGE my closet. I proceeded to list ALL of the 40+ items on Poshmark, and took some of the things to a donation center! ⁣
⁣
I also managed to finish my financial tracking spreadsheets and most of the interactive dashboards! Only a few more graphs to go and it will be done... for now haha⁣
⁣
It really does feel refreshing that everything has a home and looks organized! Even folded most of the laundry (only 2 more loads to go!). The best thing is I will aim to put the money from those sales to either student loan savings or my M1 invest account! ⁣
⁣
Yesterday also signed my PFY-4 contract (hole guacamole I am almost a 4th year resident!) feels surreal to be at this point. Even more surreal to be in the early stages of the job search process. Certainly can say that I feel on track for my goals! ⁣

Q1 was very successful and I have big hopes for Q2. We will see how it goes. ⁣
⁣

Loving all of the spring vibes! ⁣

Last week we went to the Dallas Arboretum and it was lovely to see all of the sprung tulips. 🌷 ⁣
⁣
There is something about spring that is uplifting to the spirit. It’s the energy of being reborn after the winter frost and I am here for it. With so many changes happening every day in the world it is hard to keep up and know what to expect. ⁣
⁣
Over 100 million vaccines have been administered. More vaccines are getting approved. And there seems to be light at the end of this year long tunnel we have been in. So I like to think it is ok to begin planning our next steps! ⁣
⁣
This spring I encourage you to do the following:⁣
🌷 Find an outdoor space to get some sunlight and have a picnic ⁣
⁣
💐 Take some crazy pictures with your household doing something new⁣
⁣
🌷 Plant some flowers or herbs and explore gardening a little more thoroughly ⁣
⁣
💐 If you live near the beach, go for a barefoot walk in the shore⁣
⁣
🌷 Bake some goodies and enjoy them outside ⁣
⁣
💐 Get vaccinated when it is available to you so you can do your part to END this pandemic and hug your loved ones! ⁣
⁣
Vaccines are not evil, they are not dangerous, and they are not perfect. It is OK to have some hesitancy and to have doubts. If that’s the case then take a step back, find the research and digest it at your own pace. Then if you finally feel you have enough information make your appointment and GET VACCINATED 💉 !! ⁣

Match day and what follows is a roller coaster of thoughts and emotions. This is a MILESTONE achievement for ALL of you. I want you all to know that YOU have what it takes! Many times the following months and leading into your first day of residency will be filled with insecurity, doubts, and feelings of inadequacy. This is what they often call imposter syndrome.⁣
⁣
Imposter syndrome is a controversial topic. Some think it’s ever present and normal. On the other hand, I believe it is a construct created to perpetuate our insecurities. Yes it happens to all of us, but just because of that it doesn’t mean we should embrace and accept it. ⁣
⁣
Whatever you do in life: medicine, law, accounting, etc KNOW that wherever you are, in life and your career, it is EXACTLY where you need to be. Every moment of your life has prepared you for this moment. YOU HAVE what it takes to be at this stage of your life/training. Even if you don’t know 100% of what you THINK you should know, you are STILL capacitated to be at THIS stage. ⁣
⁣
Most importantly, once you embrace that this is where you belong, don’t let anybody make you feel inadequate. If they try to make you feel inferior, that says more about them than it does you. A real teacher/leader empowers you to realize you maximum potential. ⁣
